He has also served as President of the Nassau County District Court Judges Association and as a member of the NYS Unified Court System Social Media Task Force.
Prior to his appointment, Judge O’Donnell’s experience in both the public and private sector included a career as a trial attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney, founding partner in a general practice law firm, Special Assistant United States Attorney, and as Counsel to the Locust Valley Fire District & Nassau County DA Investigator's PBA.

Respected by the legal community he has been designated “Well Qualified” by the Nassau County Bar Association and endorsed by Law Enforcement and various Employee Labor Unions & Associations. This experience demonstrates he has the scholarship, character, integrity and temperament to continue as an outstanding member of the Nassau County District Court.
Although the Fourth District includes voters who reside within the Town of Oyster Bay and City of Glen Cove, Judge O’Donnell’s jurisdiction includes criminal and civil matters that involve all the residents of Nassau County.
